The proven efficacy of creative arts therapies: What the literature tells us

Deanne Gray

About the book

ANZACATA has produced this report to offer a comprehensive review of up-to-date findings on the efficacy of creative arts therapies. It outlines the most recent research which collectively demonstrates the effectiveness of creative arts therapies for the treatment of many physical and mental health concerns. It cites Level I, II and III evidence: from systematic reviews of relevant randomised controlled trials, evidence from meta-analysis of relevant randomised controlled trials and evidence developed from systematic reviews.

The document provides the reader with the evidence often required by government and funding bodies. It is categorised by physical health and mental health with different conditions listed in each section. Additionally, it outlines the type of arts modality used, and provides a clear summary of key results as a quick reference to the value of arts for different people, conditions, and outcomes. ANZACATA hopes that this report will develop as more evidence is gathered of the efficacy of creative arts therapies around the world. We look forward to adding more research to a next edition of the report.
